A CMS Website and Cloud Portal PWA Project, with AI Chat Bot and Virtual Assistant Integration

The Requirement

Superluminal designed and built an E-Commerce Platform for Topdon's sister company Diagnostic Connections. Due to the fantastic success of that project, Superluminal were approached by the owners to undertake the design and build of an E-commerce Website and Cloud Portal PWA for TopDon's prospective vendor and official distributor channels.

As the sole distributor of the Topdon product range in the UK, and even as a relatively young business they are growing at an astonishing rate.

That increasing growth translates to an increase in sign-ups from new vendors or distributors, on-boarding those new users, and then supporting them with resources within the Topdon Portal.

Whilst distributing the Topdon product line across the UK, there also comes a need for prospective vendor / distributors or official vendor / distributors to access key technical data and information requested or queried from the business at any time of day.

As a digital first business, Topdon UK required a brochure type Web presence to display and detail the many products that the company distribute in the UK, and have a high visibility to Search Engines. Superluminal also recommended a Cloud Portal Progressive Web App (PWA) for vendors / distrubutors to access trade only data and resources only available to official distibutors.

The owners were insistent on effective digital efficiency of the Website and Cloud Portal PWA, which also encompasses a Customer Service Virtual Assitant AI Agent, and Vendors / Distributors Virtual Assistant AI Agent from Superluminal.

Our Solution

  • Website: Utilising ASP Core as the underlying website technology, Superluminal designed and built the website to also include a content management system (CMS) with the leading .Net Framework Umbraco. Administrators have full control over all website content, along with key SEO attibutes such as meta-data for each individual page. Content creators can build new pages using pre built sections of content which can then be tailored as required, edit and amend existing page content, add product data, upload images etc. The website also features a Blog, and Topdon can quickly and easily add new content as they see fit, using pre built sections that are already styled and simply need content.
  • Customer Service AI Agent Integration: The Website also integrates with a Multi Modal Omni-Channel Customer Service AI Chat Bot that is designed and built by Superluminal. This is primarly focused upon answering queries based on website data, pre sales, and sign up as a vendor or distributor. Further details on the project can be found here: AI Chat Bot Project.
  • ASP Core / Umbraco Cloud PWA Portal: As the Portal is a Progressive Web App, a user can chose to install the app on their device with an icon on their home screen for future use. The TopDon Portal runs full screen just like a native app on the user’s device and benefits from supporting web push notifications to individuals or groups of users. Each user is registered and authenticated using the Umbraco/Microsoft Identity platform. Content can be customised according to the user’s type, preference and needs. Depending on their role, each user can access the various product pages and product technical data assigned to them. A library of files is then also available to vendors / distributors to support the various aspects of selling and supporting the TopDon products.
  • Distributor Virtual Assitant Integration: The Cloud Portal also integrates with a Multi Modal Omni-Channel Virtual Assistant AI Agent that is designed and built by Superluminal. This is primarly focused upon answering queries based on Topdon data, post sales help and support, and onboarding and supporting a vendor or distributor. The result

  • Scalable and Accessible: As the business continues to grow, the Topdon Portal running on Microsoft Azure, can scale accordingly. Users can access the portal 24/7/365 unless offline for maintenance and the owners / administrators need no further input or assistance from Superluminal aside from any support or periodic maintenance.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Here we see a great example of how a growing SME business is evolving with advanced technology that fits the business and its operations perfectly. Saving resources in the Topdon business = improved perfromance, and improved efficiency. Utilising intelligent, self-learning technology, ably assisted with periodic Human input is the perfect marriage between business and machines!
  • Low Cost Deployment: As the Cloud Portal is running on Microsoft Azure with a Microsoft Azure SQL Service database, the weekly operating cost starts at approx. £75, delivering sufficient production power and availability to service 000's of users concurrently when the need arises.   • Future Integration: Topdon UK and Superluminal are exploring how they evolve the business further with additonal technology such as Automation, and further CRM Integration.

The Project is scheduled for release Q2 2025.

Superluminal have designed a branded Custom UI for the Virtual Assistant AI Agent, and designed and built a Custom UI for the integration into the Topdon Website and Portal solution from Superluminal.

Both TopDon are Superluminal are SUPER excited to deploy the new Cloud Portal.

TopDon are anticipating a significant reduction in staff time and resource currently devoted to routine queries that the Portal will support.
